Saint Peter Middle School’s seventh graders had a strong showing at the Minnesota South Central Regional History Day competition at Minnesota State University (Mankato) on Tuesday (March 19).

SPMS had eight entries qualify for the Minnesota State History Day competition, while , while two other entries earned honorable mention status. The State History Day event is set for Saturday, April 20, at the Minneapolis Convention Center.
“All of our students that competed in regional competition worked hard and I’m proud of all of them!,” Dustin Sharstrom, SPMS social studies teacher and History Day advisor, said. "Now 14 of our students will have the opportunity to compete against students from the whole state. "

Junior Individual Website - Himalaya Harrison (The American Eugenics Movement)
Junior Individual Exhibit - Abrienne Syverson (Invention of the Tampon); Nafiso Yussif (Immigration Nationality Act); Mackynsie Wilmes (Barbie). Honorable mention - Maya Knutson (Hawaiian Annexation).
Junior Group Exhibit - Haidyn Kolstand & Kate Moelter (The Clean Indoor Air Act); Isabela Turner & Linda Torres (The Lindbergh Kidnapping); Alayna Lyons, Iris Sharstrom, Lauren Christenson & Madelyn Rolfing (Title IX). Honorable mention - Avery Haggenmiller, Roba Salim, Samantha Salzwedel & Sydney Nimps (Pearl Harbor).
