Mandy Kennedy, who works with North Elementary’s Student Support Services and Early Childhood, and her husband Cullen Kennedy represented St. Peter/Nicollet County over the weekend as one of the 12 Dancing Like the Stars couples.
The gala, held at the Glencoe City Center on Saturday evening, was a fundraiser for the 2B Continued program which provides support for teen suicide prevention and mental health education. That program is currently implemented at many area high schools, including here at Saint Peter High School.
“It was so much fun,” Mandy Kennedy said. “We finished in second place for best costume and the event raised over $330,000! We had a ton of laughs and said it was easily one of the most fun things we have ever done."
Proceeds from the event are used to carry out 2B Continued’s mission to increase awareness of suicide prevention, mental health & wellness through advocacy, education and outreach. The Kennedys, along with the other 11 couples, worked with a professional choreographer to learn a dance routine to participate in the friendly dance competition.
