North Elementary new soccer/football goals

North Elementary’s Student Council recently raised funds to purchase two combination soccer goals and field goal posts for students to use to play either soccer or football on the playground. Mandy Kennedy, North’s student council leader, said the student council members took charge of the project and saw it through to completion!

“At the beginning of the school year the student council met to determine what would be a well-used popular item to work towards,” Kennedy said. “It was a pretty large consensus that the kids wanted new soccer nets for the playground.

“To get two nets, we needed to raise $700. We decided to open a school store, open once per month, to sell small items to students that they enjoy. Some of the items we sold were erasers, pencils, book marks, mochi squishies, finger puppets, stickers, tattoos, bracelets, and other fun trinkets. The school store was a huge success and we quickly reached our goal and purchased the soccer nets in April.

“They were just installed last week and the grounds crew painted lines for us as well. The soccer nets also have a field goal post so we needed to come up with a schedule for Football and Soccer. We decided as a student council to do even and odd days. So far this has worked great,” she added.
