Now that the official enrollment numbers are set for the 2024-25 school year, it was good news on two fronts for Saint Peter Public Schools, according to Superintendent Dr. Jeff Olson.

The most recent overall enrollment numbers for Saint Peter Public Schools for the 2024-25 school year is six students higher in grades K-12 (including Rock Bend ALC) from the previous school year (up from 2,029 in 2023-24 to 2,035 in 2024-25).

Even better news is the overall number for grades K-12 this school year is up by around 50 to 55 students from the projected overall number from last spring, according to Dr. Olson. (See graphic below for grade-by-grade enrollment breakdown.)

That figure is significant because the projected number is what the Saint Peter administration budgeted for this fiscal school year (2024-25), and that increase from the projected student enrollment helps the district’s overall bottom line. With about 50 more new students than projected that means around $500,000 more in state aid for District 508 for 2024-25.

“Enrollment is one of the key factors that drives school funding for school districts from the state perspective,” Dr. Olson said. “When we have actual enrollment that’s higher than we had as a budget projection, it is really helpful in balancing our budget and gaining financial stability not only this year but in the coming years as well.”
