Saint Peter High School agri-science students in Gena Lilienthal’s classes had the opportunity to get a close up look at what it’s like to participate in a grain harvest via the Minnesota State Southern Agricultural Center of Excellence’s Combine Simulator, which made a stop at SPHS earlier this week.
Shyanne Rodning, a 2017 SPHS alum and Southern Agricultural Center of Excellence’s Outreach and Recruitment Coordinator, helped coordinate the Combine Simulator’s stop at SPHS.
“I was honored to speak during Gena Lilienthal’s agriculture classes on Tuesday,” Rodning said. “We explored Ag, Food, and Natural Resources career opportunities by participating in an interactive presentation and a hands-on learning opportunity. The students were able to drive the Combine Simulator which simulates operating a combine while harvesting corn.
“This gives students an opportunity to experience high tech agricultural opportunities, while engaging students hands on, with a goal of potentially peaking their interest in the Ag, Food and Natural Resources industry."
