North Elementary administration and staff welcomed Buraq Ahmed, Saint Peter Public Schools cultural liaison, to their regular staff meeting after school on Wednesday to learn more about the Muslim observance of Ramadan. Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting, prayer, reflection, and community.
Ahmed will be visiting each of the SPPS buildings to speak about Ramadan as well.
In addition to the informational part of the meeting on Wednesday, Ahmed served the North staff some traditional Somali foods such as sambusa and mandasi as well as Somali Tea. Above and below are some photo highlights from Mr. Doherty from the meeting at North!
