Discussion and exhibit are part of Hispanic Heritage Month activities
Saint Peter Middle School art students in Ariana Bealey’s classes had a special guest visit them recently to talk about pottery. Maripsa Romero, one of Saint Peter Public Schools’ cultural liaisons, brought in some of her pottery to share with the class as part of the Hispanic Heritage Month activities at SPMS.
“The art classes are learning about clay and I brought some of my pottery from home to share with the classes,” Romero said. “The pottery pieces I brought in are from México and are used mostly every day to eat, drink, or cook in. Some of the students shared that they have some similar pottery like ‘cazuela’ pots at home that their parents use for cooking.”
According to Romero, SPMS also has a Hispanic Heritage Month exhibit in one of the school’s second-floor display cases which has artifacts from Mexico and Guatemala. Above and below are some photo highlights from Romero’s recent visit to the art room!
