North Elementary school started a new tradition of a ‘Kindness Crew’ to have 3rd and 4th grade students spread a little kindness around North. Last Spring the students had the chance to apply for the Kindness Crew and last summer the PBIS team reviewed applications and selected the new members.
The crew is divided into small groups that will be teaching lessons about kindness each month. The first lesson will be in early October and will cover the topic of Empathy. The crew will also have different teams to help with tutoring, tours, helping new students get acclimated to north and making everyone feel welcome in their new school. This is just the beginning for the Kindness Crew as they have many more exciting ideas to come as the school year continues!
The Kindness Crew idea was presented by North Elementary 3rd grade teacher, Bre Landsteiner, and brought forth to the PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) team made of up: Matt Lewis, Bre Landsteiner, Corie Walters, Kari Malz, Ryan Hassing, and Nicole Zitur.
