Saint Peter High School’s Spanish 4 class, taught by Vero Castillo-Clark, recently placed a lot of its focus on Hispanic Heritage Month (9/15 - 10/15), and the students were looking for some ideas on how the school could celebrate our Hispanic and Latino populations.
“Some of my students came up with the idea of having the kitchen create a special menu to celebrate,” Mrs. Castillo-Clark said. “On Wednesday, the (SPHS) kitchen served enchiladas, tamales, Spanish rice, guacamole, salsa, tres leches cake for dessert, and horchata to drink, which our students helped serve. The objective of this activity was to celebrate our school’s diversity and be more inclusive as a school culture.”
The authenic meal was served to all three lunch periods, and was generally well received by the students and staff. “Special thanks to the kitchen staff for putting together an amazing and authentic Hispanic menu,” Mrs. Castillo-Clark said.
