More than 160 members of Saint Peter High School's senior class received their diplomas Friday evening (June 2nd) during the annual SPHS Commencement at the school gym before a large crowd of family and friends.
Providing welcoming statements during the ceremony were SPHS Principal Annette Engeldinger, Saint Peter Superintendent Bill Gronseth, Saint Peter School Board Chair Charlie Potts, and SPHS Senior Class President Amelia Hildebrandt. Other senior class officers include Piper Ruble (Vice President), Farhiya Garad (Secretary), and Erica Gullickson (Treasurer).
The guest speaker for the evening was Ayan Musse, Saint Peter Public Schools’ Office of Education Equity Coordinator, while seniors Nibraas SayidNour, David Marlow and Alyia Bice were the student speakers who focused on the past, present and future.
Members of the Saint Peter Board of Education took turns presenting the diplomas including board members/senior parents Drew Dixon (Anders) and Tracy Stuewe (Sam) .
The SPHS Concert Band, under the direction of Dave Haugh, provided the traditional processional (Pomp and Circumstance) and the recessional (Fanfare and Recessional). The SPHS Concert Choir, under the direction of Bri Bergstrom, performed “You Will Be Found,” from the Dear Evan Hansen soundtrack while Will Elias performed a solo.
