Saint Peter High School students interested in robotics are encouraged to attend an informational meeting on the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) team at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 11 in the basement of Beck Hall at Gustavus Adolphus College. This meeting is open to new members and their parents/guardians.
Current SPHS team members include Alex Bur, Micah Stoll, Isam Ibrahim and Logan Pherson, but there is always room for more students to join, according to Ibrahim!
According to the group’s website, “FRC combines the excitement of sport with the rigors of science and technology. Under strict rules, limited resources, and time limits, teams are challenged to raise funds, design a team ‘brand,’ hone teamwork skills, and build and program robots to perform prescribed tasks against a field of competitors. It’s as close to ‘real-world engineering’ as a student can get.”
The SPHS FRC team’s mentors are Chuck Niederriter and Matt Dobosenski. Those needing additional info or having questions before the Dec. 11th informational meeting can check out their website by clicking HERE or sending an email to info@saintpeterrobotics.org or call 507-933-0737.
