Saint Peter High School’s physical education department benefited from a recent $2,000 donation from the local Masonic Lodge #54 to purchase a separate set of archery equipment for their students to use and a cabinet to store the new equipment. According to SPHS physical education teacher Keith Hanson, items purchased with the funds, in addition to the cabinet, included seven bows, 12 dozen arrows, and a screen backstop.
The donation from Masonic Lodge 54, according to Secretary Dan Honetschlager, came from investments and fundraisers the Lodge has had over the years. The group, which has 73 members, donated funds back in 2010 for the physical education department to purchase similar equipment, but the recent equipment purchase will allow the high school and middle school to have their own set instead of having to transport all of it between buildings.
