Students trained online and completed five modules: Food Safety Is Important, Good Personal Hygiene, Controlling Time and Temperature, Preventing Cross-Contamination, and Cleaning and Sanitizing, according to Bunkowske. They then took and passed the certification test.
“I am very proud of them and the work they put into this training and our culinary class,” Bunkowske said. “Having this certification gives students who want to work in the food industry an advantage over those without certification and could earn them a pay raise too. We are going to move toward having all of our culinary students take this course in the future.”
